Dental decay is also referred to as tooth decay that is a common dental issue faced by a majority of the people across the world. This is not surprising as we use the teeth to chew the food that results in plaque. The saliva, bacteria, food particles as well as dead cells are part of the plaque that results in tooth decay.

Dental decay starts when the food particles are stuck on the tooth’s surface. This will be fed by the bacteria on the tooth, and produce an acid. Do brush your teeth twice a day with toothpaste that contains fluoride and floss after brushing to eliminate the food particles as well as plaque present in between teeth. If you have sweet or sugary foods stuff, make sure you rinse your teeth. Make it a habit to chew of xylitol gum after you eat as it helps in preventing decay. Use a dental sealant on the biting surface of your teeth as it will cover the grooves and prevent the food particles from storing on the teeth.

There is a very good possibility for the kids to damage their teeth very easily as they love to have sweets and other food items that affects oral health. Here are some simple points that will help in the dental care of kids.

It is necessary to take the kids for regular dental checkups as it will help in finding the dental problems at their initial stages itself and solve it.
